About
Hello my name is Courtney. I have chronic fatigue syndrome and other health issues that prevent me from a “normal” life. This blog is my attempt to make sense of it, provide some hope for others and express my thoughts on health, healing and achievement.
I am tired all of the time – constantly – every day in and out. What started as a few long term colds and flu bouts in my college lead to depression and exhaustion in my 20s. That was compounded doubly by two daughters two years apart (both at home!). I knew something was probably wrong when I found myself explaining that I had post-partum overwhelm when my youngest was 2.5 years old.
I crashed out during 2007 and 2008 and nearly killed my freelance writing business in the process. I had a similar episode throughout much of college. With the diagnosis in early 2008 I had a name, but not a cure. In addition to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the tests showed I had candida overgrowth, an allergy to wheat, a low lymphocyte count and low levels of magnesium.
Unfortunately, not only is there no known cause of CFS, but there is no surefire cure. I tend toward the herbal and natural anyway, so I am looking into ways to change and supplement my diet, add vitamins and minerals and use behavior modification to create better feelings in my life. Since there is no cure, my goal is to cope as best I can.
